Welcome from the President

Greetings!

The Council and I want to welcome PRS members, guests and speakers to the upcoming 55th Annual Meeting of the Perinatal Research Society as we look forward to gathering in scenic Colorado Springs, CO, September 12 – 14, 2025.

With the 2025 meeting’s theme of “Innovative Approaches to the Placenta and Its Impact on Offspring Health,” our invited speakers will deliver a variety of outstanding presentations that will provide deeper insights into how cutting-edge techniques are revolutionizing our understanding of placental function, its roles during pregnancy, and its lifelong effects on offspring health.

Late summer is the perfect time to come to Colorado to enjoy the majestic Rocky Mountains and to discuss the latest updates in perinatal research and I am thrilled to welcome you all to my home state.

Paul Rozance, MD
PRS President

Our 2025 Liley Award Winner, Theresa Powell, PhD, Professor, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Colorado, will provide a high point at our meeting as she delivers the Liley Lecture, entitled, “Maternal-Placental-Fetal Cross Communication: How Metabolic Signals, Nutrients and Exosomes Determine Pregnancy Outcomes and Life-long Health for Parent and Child.”

For additional information about speakers and the meeting schedule, you can review the Preliminary Program, which includes the meeting schedule and list of speakers for our September meeting. You can also register online for the meeting here: PRS Registration.

Since the inception of PRS 55 years ago, our society’s goals have included encouraging discussions of important advances in perinatal research, which are presented by nationally renowned speakers who provide insights on current developments in the field. Additionally, our Annual Meeting is intentionally smaller in hopes of offering attendees and early career investigators the opportunity to meet with senior members and leave with new ideas for their research. We also set aside time to reunite with old friends and make new acquaintances.

Each year we also welcome our class of early career researchers to the PRS Young Investigators Grant Writing Workshop. The two-day pre-meeting provides outstanding interactive curriculum and one-on-one mentoring by PRS senior investigators with the goal of composing concise grant proposals and improving oral presentations. Three of the participants then present their research during the Annual Meeting, which directly follows the workshop. While the deadline to apply for 2025, if you are a researcher in the early stages of your career, please consider applying for next year’s workshop, beginning in March 2026.

As for our 2025 location, the unique Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs, CO will host our meeting. Colorado is a favorite location and picturesque Pikes Peak is just 25 miles from the hotel. The city is home to numerous attractions including the Garden of the Gods National Landmark, U.S. Air Force Academy and the Pikes Peak Cog Railway.

The resort itself has inspirational views of the mountains and activities for any free moments you might have. We will also be hosting our Saturday afternoon Team Building Activity, dinner and evening speaker at the top-ranked Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

We hope to see you in Colorado in September as we take a deeper look at the placenta and how perinatal researchers are using innovative approaches to study its impact on offspring health.

Register today to attend the 55th Annual PRS meeting.
